Cusco – Pisac – Moray – Maras – Salineras – Ollantaytambo

After being collected from your hotel at 6:30 am, in a comfortable private transport, we will drive to the Sacred Valley of the Incas enjoying magnificent vistas that Peruvian Andes offers

First of all, we will stop at Mirador Taray to marvel at the stunning panoramic view of the Sacred Valley of the Incas. From this viewpoint, visitors can see the winding Urubamba River, the terraced hillsides, and the snow-capped peaks of the Andes in the distance. It’s a great spot to take photos and appreciate the natural beauty of the Sacred Valley of the Incas.

Later, you will continue to the Pisac archeological site on a hilltop that offers stunning views of the surrounding valley. It also has impressive Inca ruins, including a large plaza, terraces, and a ceremonial center. After exploring the Inca site, head down to Pisac town, known for its lively local market (though it is open daily). The market is a great place to shop for souvenirs, including textiles, ceramics, and jewelry. You’ll also find plenty of fresh produce, including exotic fruits and vegetables, and street food vendors selling local specialties.

Next, we will drive for 1:20hrs along the Urubamba River to the salt pans of Maras. This salt mines or Salineras of Maras shows a collection of over 3,000 salt pans that cover the mountainside near Maras. The salt pans have been passed down through generations of local families and are still used today.

After that we drive to Maras town to enjoy lunch (not included in the price). Following lunch, we keep driving to Moray, a unique archaeological site with several large circular terraces. The Incas likely used these terraces for agricultural experimentation and may have been used to study the effects of different climates and soil types on crops.

Afterward, we drive to the Incan village of Ollantaytambo, where we will explore the Ollantaytambo fortress, one of the most impressive Inca sites in Peru, and it’s a must-see for anyone interested in Inca history and architecture. The fortress was built in the 15th century and served as a military, religious, and agricultural center for the Incas. The site features massive stone terraces, intricate stonework, and stunning views of the surrounding valley.

Ollantaytambo is a charming town known for its narrow streets, traditional architecture, and beautiful gardens. Visitors can explore the town’s cobbled streets, visit local shops and cafes, and learn about the town’s rich history and culture. Last, you will drive back to Cusco; arrival at your hotel is around 6.00 pm.

It the time allows, on the way back to Cusco, we will stop at the Andean village of Chinchero. Once there, our guide will take you to the weaving textile center and have a demonstration of dying and weaving techniques.
